Many are seeking standing before men, a few are seeking standing before God. We are traveling down the road less traveled which is a High Way of Love that leads straight to the Fathers heart. It is one of compassion that fully releases us from the compulsion to do it the worlds way. It is a burden for the lost that will cost us everything of temporary value. Scattered all along this road are the worlds wounded and dying souls in need of living water. This is a service road of intimate encounters with the needs of others. However, there are always choices. There are wide ditches that run parallel to our path.
Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter ye in at the narrow gate, for the way that leads to destruction is wide and spacious, and those who follow it are many; because narrow is the gate, and confined is the way which leads unto life, and there are few that find it”
On each side of the road we are on are ditches. One leads into striving, becoming political and social as a means to an end. It is the worlds way that circumvents the transforming power of the Cross of Christ as the One and only way to the Father. If I succeed in changing your mind but leave your heart in the same condition have I really accomplished anything of eternal value? This is the ditch of religious activity without relationship that is driven by the mind and not the Holy Spirit. The other ditch leads us back into Egypt, into the world, the place from which we were delivered.
Isaiah 2:2-3 “And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem”
The path up the mountain will separate you from other people. It is a place where you and He walk alone together, it is a place where only His voice is heard; it is the path of unknowing, it is the path of misunderstanding. Those in your life will not understand where you are going, why you are obsessed about spending time with the Lord and telling others about Him. So the journey is lonely. It is a path of longing to be understood yet remaining silent. It is the path of a closed mouth and an open heart. As we are apprenticed by Jesus, we learn the art of war in the Spirit as we follow the Lamb wherever He goes. We wake up each day not knowing where we are going or will be led. We spend our lives going somewhere, going with God whose pathway is the Way, Himself, Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 11:7-8 “By faith with confidence in God and His word Noah, being warned by God about events not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his family. By this act of obedience he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness which comes by faith. By faith Abraham, when he was called by God, obeyed by going to a place which he was to receive as an inheritance; and he went, not knowing where he was going.
