Matthew 16:24-27 “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father and will judge all people according to their deeds”

The most important thing that I do every day is spend “quality time” with the Lord and with my family. If a single day is missing either of those things it is a day that I missed the Lords perfect will for my life and instead chose some temporary gain that the world had to offer. Every believer’s family is faced with increasingly difficult choices on how to maintain balance between work time and family time and spiritual time. The most respectable sin in Christianity is to be a workaholic. It begins with temptations that all families face as they see what kids in other families have, then they decide their kid must have them also. And the adults also react and make buying decisions that place greater demands on work time at the expense of family time, spiritual time and time with friends. To keep that balance is to learn to say no to things and people. The love (pursuit) of money will rob you of quality time with your family and it will also rob you of your health. Moms and Dads, your kids need you more than you know. Dads your family needs you more than you know. In eternity the value you placed on your relationship with God and family will be the only things that matter. The deposit you make in their bank accounts is of temporary value. The deposit you make in their hearts each day will last forever…
