Proverbs 27:6 “Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses”

We all need Godly friends. People that the Lord has sovereignty placed in our lives who have permission to speak freely. We all function in some measure of anointing in areas of our life but in Gods economy it does not keep us from speaking and believing for fullness in these same areas in the lives of our friends.

Ephesians 4:15 “… Speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ”

Even if at first our words are met with resistance we know that they were spoken in love and over time will melt the hard places in any heart. We all need friends who are good listeners. We all need friends who will tell us when we’re neglecting our family for work. We need friends whose wisdom might keep us from making bad financial decisions. We need friends who are bold enough to question a new relationship we’re beginning. Real friends sometimes use sharp words to cut the cords that keep our souls tied to natural bondage.

A friend in the Lord will challenge our faith and call us to greater depths of commitment to the Lord. Words from a friend like that can often be the most effective alarms in our lives and awaken us to a present word from the Lord. In many of the most difficult times in my life it was a Godly friends voice speaking truth into my life that made all the difference.

John 15:15 “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you”
