Romans 8:14 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God”
The first time I heard God talk to me and responded, I ended a relationship that had been a tremendous distraction and was the single greatest hinderance to my walk with the Lord at that time. I am convinced that once you learn to hear and obey the prompting of the Holy Spirit, that is the path to change, growth and spiritual maturity and you’ll never be the same again.
John 15:14-15 “You are my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn’t know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have heard from my Father”
Hearing is a path to friendship with God. At that moment I knew God talks to our spirit and listens to our heart reaction. The simplest thought or idea can be witnessed to by the spirit and require us to make a choice that might not make any sense to our head yet its our spirit that is meant to lead us and is what qualifies us to be called Daughters and Sons of God. The prompting of the Spirit always requires a choice or action that may be clear to see but not necessarily easy to do. At first the steps seem very practical when we are babes in Christ. As we grow the witness may seem unusual or impossible as the word of the Lord becomes sharper and divides our natural life from our spirit life and releases us from the grip of our soul.
Hebrews 4:12 “For we have the living Word of God, which is full of energy and it pierces more sharply than a two-edged sword. It will even penetrate to the very core of our being where soul and spirit, bone and marrow meet! It interprets and reveals the true thoughts and secret motives of our hearts”
